Sneak Peak! SHHHH!

I am giving everyone a sneak peak not everyone gets to see this yet!! Scentsy JUST posted August's Scent and Warmer of the Month about 2 minutes ago and I can NOT wait! Its the cutest thing ever and I might just keep this warmer for myself!

The majestic sunflower faces the sun throughout the day, actually turning from east to west as it rises and sets—a true lover of light and warmth. Drink in the sun’s rays with Sol, a bright, hand-painted beauty in the sunniest shade of goldenrod, highlighted by hints of chalky white. Delicate, climbing tendrils accent a giant, embossed sunflower in full bloom, as large vent holes emit pronounced beams of light—homage
to an endless summer sky. Capture the essence of the mighty sunflower with Sol.

The scent is soooo up my alley I could cry with excitement! Mint is one of my favorite all time scents and was so upset that all my late night voting for Made About Mint in Bring Back my Bar had not paid off. I also love lemon and eucalyptus so maybe this scent will be my new go-to scent.

Breathe deeply as soothing eucalyptus, zesty lemon, and a medley of mints comfort and rejuvenate.

July Scent of the Month

July's Warmer of the Month is SOOOOO cute! Its a Cupcake! It is also Scentsy's first 3 peice warmer... can we say collectible!!

"Grab the biggest, yummiest treat at the bakery! Celebrate your favorite summer event with the festive Cupcake, Scentsy’s first three-piece Mid-Size Warmer. Cupcake is stacked with party-perfect colors: a rich chocolate-brown warmer dish is sandwiched between a pleated bright-green base and a removable dollop of fluffy, candy-pink frosting, cleverly sprinkled with powdered sugar accents and vent holes to release delicious fragrance."
Cupcake Scentsy Warmer July Warmer of the Month

The scent is "Happy Birthday" and it smells just like cake! The scent is also one of the ones that lasts a really long time! I have had 2 cubes in for days and it smells sweet in my kitchen! I had a give-a-way on my facebook page that ended today for a free bar of it. Jen from "Makeup by Mommy" won! (you can catch her blog at http://makeupbymommy.blogspot.com/

Bring back childhood memories of licking sweet, rich frosting off the beaters. Happy Birthday is a “candy-licious” confection of sparkling sugar, fluffy whipped cream, and warm vanilla extract.

I also have my monthly photo of Princess Bella with the Warmer of the Month Kit! She even matches this time!

Bring Back my Bar!

The countdown for Thailand is getting closer and closer to my trip! Since I will be gone almost half of the month of July I decided to go a little low budget with my samples for BBMB but I think they turned out pretty good! I had a major headache after cutting them all but it really didn't take that long. If anyone is wanting a sniff of any of these scents let me know! I really like the Grape Granita!! When I saw it I didn't really think much of it but it smells great!

Wal-Mart knock off warmers and scents. ICK!

I was in wal-mart the other day and saw they have their own warmers and scent bars that Better Homes and Garden makes. I had heard about them and I have a girl who wont buy Scentsy because of these ugly things. The warmers looked SO cheap and the designs were not cute at all. I saw that they had about 20 scents and some were almost the same as ours like blueberry cheesecake and clove & cinnamon. I decided to take a closer look and smell a few. They are in the same clam shell packaging that Scentsy uses. They are only $2 for a pack that has 6 cubes in it. They didn't smell awful but I did noticed the wax was hard and not like Scentsy's at all. I was going to buy one just to compare so I could share my experience when I get asked but I was scared that wax was going to ruin my Scentsy warmer. I was also really shocked to see that right on the packaging of the warmer it states: This Is Not A Scentsy Product, can we say COPY CATSo I came home and did some research. Scentsy had a lawsuit against Walmart and the makers of this warmer/bars, we won! I also saw that a lot of consultants tried them out and they said they don't even compare at all! Here is one girl that had a in depth review of the wal-mart wax....

1. The wax was very hard to come out of the packaging!

2. The scent was so strong ( I'm one that loves strong scents) it made me SICK.. I"m not joking~ I got this horrible headache and then I felt like my throat was gonna close because it was so overwhelming. Who knows what they are using, but it did NOT sit well with me.

3. The scents was so strong, I turned off my warmers, opened my screen door and scooped the wax out in a bag ~ Oh.. Walmart wax BURNS your skin. OUCH.. and I had the warmer turned off enough that it was almost back to solid, but was so hot, that it hurt when a tiny amount go on my hand. Good selling point to our customers who say, walmart is cheaper !! Not if a child pulls down on the cord and gets burned and scared from walmart wax...

4. Still feeling sick ~ I quickly took out the bag with the walmart wax and threw it in my outside garbage can with my dogs bag of goodies ....LOL.....that's where it belongs.

5. Sometimes I think we all need to be careful what we wish for ~~meaning, wanting stronger scents ~ If I had not heard of scentsy and tried the walmart stuff.. I can tell you I would NEVER try a warmer and wax again !!

I also read about the wal-mart scents not being strong enough depending on the scent and the warmers getting TOO hot and breaking. I guess this is something to think about and maybe even and also learn more as wal-mart gets more scents but I still think they suck!

GO SCENTSY!!!

Here are a few photos of their warmers that have NO personality what so ever!

Fragrance :101

I have never been a big "candle person" or even a girl that liked perfume, which might be surprising since I sell Scentsy but its true! However the first time I burned my scentsy bar and walked into my house from being out for a few hours I fell in love! It made everything so homey! Once other people started to comment on my house I was hooked! The Scentsy blog posted a great thread on synthetic fragrance oils and top tones and under tones that I found really cool! It does get a bit technical but it was pretty interesting. I am now proud to say that I am a fragrance girl!

"Today, the questions of synthetic and essential oils are always fragrance specific.  At Scentsy we use both.  More specifically, Scentsy fragrances typically contain a mixture of natural and synthetic fragrance oils.  The argument that “synthetics aren’t as good as natural (oils)” is, from my perspective, a myth.
There is a laundry list of reasons why, but without synthetic fragrance oils our fragrance options would be highly limited—unless we were comfortable with mass deforestation or the unrestrained use of limited or endangered resources.  Not to mention the financial costs of those resources.  Musk notes are a great example, as “natural” musk oils are not distributed within the fragrance industry as a whole (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musk).  If it wasn’t for synthetic fragrance oils, the Siberian Musk Deer (and many other similar animals) would likely be extinct.  However, not all synthetic oils are created equal—so we still have the challenge (and fun) of identifying the right raw material.
The oils that we use fall into nine olfactive families.  The word olfactive is typically defined as referring to your sense of smell.  Perfumers tend to group these families into three categories, including top notes, mid notes, and dry down (or base notes).
Top notes include: Citrus, Green, and Ozonic

Mid notes include: Fruity, Floral, and Spice

Base notes include: Gourmand, Woody, and Musk

"So what is this top, mid and dry down note language referring to anyways?  Perfumers have devised a means of describing the structure of a fragrance which is often referred to as a “scent pyramid.”  The top of the pyramid is where you’ll find top notes, which provide the initial impact of a fragrance—think about popping open a brand new Scentsy Bar.  The mid notes are frequently referred to as the “heart notes” because they are responsible for the predominant character of the fragrance.  The dry down notes are the longest lasting of the group and I tend to think of them as providing balance to a finished fragrance— a counterpoint to the top notes.
A key piece of the puzzle that everyone should know regarding the scent pyramid is that the top notes are the most impatient—they want out of the wax, which is why they are what you first smell when you open a bar.  Base notes, on the other hand, just keep going and going—sometimes you can’t even detect the base notes from a bar of wax without warming it.
A metaphor that sometimes helps put this into perspective is this: if you had three different oils, one top note, one mid note, and one base note, and you took one drop of each (volumetric, not weight), and placed them next to each other on a piece of glass, they would evaporate at different rates.  The top note would evaporate first, the mid note second, and the dry down would last the longest.  This is a bit of an overgeneralization but it typically holds true.
Helping to adjust all of these notes into a perfectly balanced fragrance is my favorite task.  In many cases, the final changes come down to as little as a 1% shift between two ingredients.  In other cases, we will have revised a fragrance six or more times only to realize it was missing a key ingredient to extend its performance over time, such as a harmonious bottom note that compliments or “pushes” a top note.  This latter example was exactly what happened with the upcoming August Scent of the Month—but I can’t tell you any more than that without getting into trouble, so you’ll just have to wait."
My WOTM FINALLY came today the scent smells really sweet like a cake reminds me of summer. I will most more on it later.

P.S. Bella was being annoying and following the cursor as I typed and pawing at the laptop screen! Silly Kitty. <3

Pretty Cool Story from the Scentsy Blog

Woke up with a major headache today from not sleeping too well. GGRRRR. I am glad its Friday! This weekend is going to be busy with Britney's Scentsy Party and Heather's birthday bash!
Since I started this Blog I have been looking at some others and found Scentsy's Blog they posted a cool story they got from a girl in OK that I will share with you here....

Hi! I wanted to contact Scentsy concerning something I discovered this last week.

Oklahoma was hit by tornados last week and my family and I participated in clean-up efforts in Cashion, OK. When we arrived on site, all that was left of the home was a foundation and kitchen cabinets. Rubble was strewn everywhere. It looked like a mass pile of debris had been blown up. Three walls of the home had fallen outward onto the ground and one was leaning in on the kitchen area (the house only consisted of 4 walls). Our job was to put things in piles (wood, metal, etc.) and to set aside anything we thought might be salvageable. The largest wall that had fallen out had to be cut into 3 pieces so it could be moved.

When they removed the wall from the yard, I began sifting through the rubble. While doing this, I came upon the bottom to a Rustic Star Full-Size Warmer fully intact. I thought it would be pretty amazing if I could also find the top intact. Sure enough, I came upon the top, also fully intact, with the wax still in it, although debris littered the wax. Neither of the pieces had a chip out of them and the light bulb and cord looked perfect. Remember, I found this under an exterior wall in the yard. I thought it was pretty amazing and a testament to the quality of Scentsy's products. Thank you for making a great product!

Despite the devastation the occupants of this house have felt, we are pleased to know that they will have one small piece of their former home to move forward with. Our hearts go out to all those who have been affected by the recent disasters felt across the United States and beyond.

Warmer and Scent of the Month for July 2011

Currently the Warmer Star Spangled is 10% off and is the Warmer of the Month for the US...
Canada also has their own Patriotic warmer for up coming July and its super cute! Way cute than ours!!
These warmers go with the Scent of the Month which is... Peach a La Mode.  The perfect dessert for a summer picnic! Fresh from the orchard, ripe and juicy fruit-stand peaches simmered in sugar and topped with a fluffy dollop of sweet vanilla cream.

The Scentsy Story

This is my first post and I thought it would be a good idea to start with the Scenty Story and how it all got started.

The Scentsy Story...

Scentsy began with a simple idea—a safe, wickless alternative to scented candles—and quickly grew into one of the most successful direct selling companies. This wickless concept was born when two stay-at-home moms began selling decorative warmers designed to melt scented wax with the heat of a light bulb instead of a traditional wick and flame.

Entrepreneurs Heidi and Orville Thompson encountered the small company at a home show in early 2004 and brought sample products home. They were intrigued by how fragrance brings powerful emotions and memories to the surface—without the safety risks of a burning candle. They purchased the tiny company and moved Scentsy to Meridian, Idaho, where the company's first home office was a 40-foot ocean shipping container on a small sheep farm.

Scentsy joined the Direct Selling Association (DSA) in 2004 and enrolled its first Independent Consultant. Since then, the company has expanded operations, hired a strong executive team, and received numerous awards for its growth and ethical business practices, including being named the number one consumer products company on the 2010 Inc. 500 list, appearing on the 2010 Direct Selling News Global 100 list of top direct selling companies, and receiving both the DSA's 2010 Success Award and the DSA's 2009 Rising Star Award.

In just seven years, Scentsy generated more than $700 million in revenue. Today, the company's family of more than 100,000 passionate Independent Scentsy Consultants shares the Scentsy experience and the Scentsy difference throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Canada, with a European expansion currently underway.
